Spatial transition programs
We work on programs that reflect the most important social issues of our time. They act as our compass guiding us into the future. By doing so we help to make breakthroughs for the benefit of tomorrow´s world.
With Sweco-wide expertise we are banking on innovation and knowledge-sharing in current sustainability themes. Framed by the Urban Insight knowledge program we align ourselves with the Sustainability initiatives of the international Sweco Group.
Climate & energy
Carbon neutrality will be the norm in 2050. We assist all of our clients in developing climate plans and implementing a resolute energy transition. Together we are turning the climate curve positive.
Strong centers
City and village centers are sustainable living environments par excellence. We also make them the best places to live, with plenty of greenery, inclusive and diverse, brimming with life and character. We do this by reinforcing each center in a customized manner, but also by reducing the proliferation outside of the centers. Promoting resilience and quality of life in the centers is a fundamental part of this effort.
Healthy environments
Our health depends on the places, infrastructure and nature around us. They influence our choices, our behavior and our general well-being. We design healthy working and living environments as a spatial vaccine; from the granular level of an individual building up to the macro level of public spaces and landscapes, for young and old.
Integrated ecosystems
Plants, animals, people and buildings together form the ecosystem of our cities and neighborhoods. In our carefully designed landscapes and ecological residential districts we ensure that this ecosystem flourishes. Thus our projects offer room for biodiversity, water, food, recreation, energy production and more.
Circular economy
A sustainable society is organized on a circular basis, with closed technical and biological circuits. But how do we make the transition to such a circular economy? We accompany policy makers and urban players in this transition, develop solutions for industrial production, water management, food production and all of the other systems that determine our society’s metabolism.
Sustainable mobility
People depend on their cars, but they have a dramatic impact on nature and the surroundings in which we live. In our projects, we tackle the underlying spatial problems and integrate sustainable and innovative mobility solutions. In this way we seek to stimulate a culture of healthy, active and environmentally-friendly transport choices.
Technology for people
Smart cities use information technology to understand and direct the concentration of activities and flows. Our data solutions bring government authorities and residents closer together, thanks to open data and GIS applications. An efficient way to foster exchange and co-creation.
Regional development
Space is political and requires cooperation. As planners and intermediaries, we help shape regional spatial development policies. We combine disciplines so that together we can create sustainable solutions for cities, provinces, regions and countries.
Inclusive society
A changing society risks leaving people behind. Thanks to a careful layout and organizational structure of the living environment, we promote an inclusive society fostering social justice. We work closely with various social players and ensure that our designs are welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Infrastructure as a spatial lever
Complex infrastructure projects have an enormous impact on the natural environment, public spaces and people. To increase their social added-value as much as possible, we design our projects in close collaboration, taking all aspects and every stakeholder into account. As a result, they become the driving force for bigger, high-quality and sustainable changes.
