The people of Brasschaat were asked about their experiences and wishes for the further development of the central areas of the municipality.
On February 26th, the municipality of Brasschaat and BUUR organised an exhibition on the theme of ‘core reinforcement’. Our mission is to investigate how we can support the commercial centres and deal with housing growth. During the exhibition we offered visitors questions about their experiences and wishes for the future development of their neighborhoods. More than 500 inhabitants filled in this questionnaire. Some interesting results: there is a large support base for an additional range of compact small houses in the centres, but preserving the green character of the municipality is for everyone of great importance. Almost all of the inhabitants were satisfied with the proximity of shops for daily shopping, but they would wish that the layout of the central squares could be improved. Half of the participants don’t use their care to go shopping and in general people of Brasschaat don’t think it’s crucial that they can park their car right in front of the shop.
The municipality and BUUR will take these conclusions into account in the development of a vision for the further development of the central areas.
