BUUR developed the vision and investigated the spatial integration of four pilot projects of De Lijn for autonomously driving shuttle buses in Antwerpen, Leuven, Mechelen and Genk.
Yesterday the first autonomous shuttle of De Lijn was launched on the areas of Brussels National Airport. This is the first step in what might revolutionize urban public transport in Flanders. In the next years four cities (Antwerpen, Leuven, Mechelen and Genk) will introduce these shuttles as a new form of flexible public transport. BUUR supported De Lijn in chosing the four pilot lines and designing the spatial and traffic integration of each of them.
